Vado Port System, also known as Vado Gateway, is made up of two well integrated terminals: Reefer Terminal and its new semi-automated container terminal.
With the launch of the new platform in 2019, Vado Ligure became the first semi-automated port in Italy with a fully automated gate and stacking yard.

We are currently looking for the Legal & Claims Associate for our team based in Vado Ligure, Italy. The Legal and Claims Associate will report to the Legal Counsel of the gateway and will act as the primary go-to support for each function in respect of all incidents, which could lead to a monetary or compensational settlement. He/She will also support Claims Insurance Coordinator and Legal Counseling handling of the claims.
Principal accountabilities
Claims Coordination
- File and report claim data using the proper tools (currently Datawize).
- Handle insurance claims for damages sustained in/by terminals.
- Liaise with external advisor for prompt technical reviews in support of claims.
- Provide accounting monthly accrual report related to claims.
- Actively work with stakeholders to recourse against liable sub-contractors, vendors and carriers.
Legal Coordination
- Contact person versus legal Team and other relevant stakeholders.
- Provide assistance for legal and corporate matters.
- Analyse contracts and review general terms and conditions.
- Perform legal researches also for claims management.
Governance Support
- Responsible for updating financial corporate information (Admin Control, GEMS).
- Keep Local Authorization matrix constantly updated and aligned, under instructions and directions of legal counsel.
- Responsible for monitoring registered emails and correct distribution when needed.
Continuous Improvements and Quality
- Proactively drive and follow up initiatives and ad hoc projects to improve processes
- Ensure data quality on specific elected accounting matters
Work/Business contacts and authority:
Internal:
- Main stakeholders are Finance, Customer Service, HSSE, A&M, and HQ legal and corporate team.
External:
- Claims adjusters, Banks, Surveyors.
Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience)
- Bachelor’s Degree in law or related discipline.
- Fluent English and Italian language skills.
- Quality and detail-oriented, team player, learning agility, hands-on, drive to be ‘best in class’, high ethical standards, easy to communicate, accurate, service minded, resilient and able to work under pressure.
